I love working at home, but my problem is I spend too much time working and don't do anything at home
I am one of the fortunate ones; my kids are teenagers and in school all day, so I have a lot of freedom to work, but I am not organized enough to do a balance of work on my computer and cleaning, etc.
The main reason for this is I LOVE the computer stuff, my Avon business stuff, my bookkeeping stuff, but ABSOLUTELY HATE my house work stuff!!
I need to become more balanced in my work and house.
But this sure beats a regular 9-5--unfortunately the pay doesn't so that is why I spend so much time looking for more ways to make money from home! _________________ dlow

Oh how I can relate! I'd much rather stare at a computer screen all day than have to face the ever-growing laundry pile!!
I think the secret, or at least what I'm learning, is to actually make a written schedule, or write down specific times you're going to do "work" and certain times you're going to do "housework." Also, you can get loads done in 15 minute increments. So maybe you could work for an hour, then get a timer and set it for 15 minutes - put a load of clothes in the washer or dishes in the dishwasher. Then go back to work for another hour. Set the timer again, switch the clothes, empty the dishes. You'd be surprised how much you can get done in spurts like that. Just remember to set your timer for your 15 minute breaks.

Thanks for those tips...that's kinda what I was thinking about when I said get more balance in my life- organization!...I just didn't have the specifics down... _________________ dlow

I love this tips to have a more balanced life while working at home. My problem is that I do a lot of creative writing, and when I'm into it, I better not get interrupted, bucause I don't know when the "flowing" will stop. The advantage I have is that I live alone and have a very small apartment that I can clean up in half an hour (of course the cleaning is very light and only to make it look clean but not deeply clean).
Maybe I'll try the 15 minutes every 2 hours and see how does it work for me.
I had this same problem and what I have had to do is just make certain times that I am able to work. This way I know that I will work say from 9to2 and then do some other things and maybe work for a few in the evenining. I had to do this because I was finding that I was spending way to much time on the computer. This has helped me balance it all out.
This probably sounds horribly self-indulgent, but I finally broke down and hired a cleaning service to come every other week. They take care of the worst of the mess, leaving me free when the muse strikes (or better yet, when I get a paid assignment!)
Me, I find what currently works for me is working 10-5, taking about an hour after to do some tidying up and such.
But I currently don't have my own home. I assume that will change pretty quick them
Well, this is all very new too me, I find that I am spending the majority of
my day in front of the computer screen. But I think once I am settled in my
niche, I will be able to tweek my schedule, and create a more balanced routine.
But right now, I am finding it extremely hard too pull myself away...S
Yeah this happens a lot when you work from home. Your work is right there all the time, so you end up just setting in front of the computer all of time.
I have to write myself a schedule, so that I could make sure I was neglecting my husband and children.
I love working from home too, but you have to set limits for yourself, so you don't get burned out.
